چکیده

Disordered and non-regulated urban growth in the outskirts of Mexico City represents a major problem that has led to the degradation of both natural and social environments. The following study was undertaken to provide decision-making agencies with a suitable tool to generate probable scenarios of urban development based on a given set of hypothetical conditions, such as the implementation of urban policies or urban infrastructure developments. Variations of Cellular Automata (CA) based models have been applied to study the evolution of urban systems in terms of land use, traffic, and intra-urban migration. Calibration of these models is a central need that requires special attention. In this study we use an evolutionary algorithm as a tool to calibrate a CA based model built specifically to mimic the dynamics of land development in vulnerable areas of Mexico City.

Runoff simulation using SWAT model and SUFI-2 algorithm (Case study: Shafaroud watershed, Guilan Province, Iran)

Reliable estimates of runoff are required as a part of the information sets that help watershed managers make informed decisions on water resources planning and management. This study was carried out in Shafaroud watershed located in the north of Iran. In order to achieve the best runoff simulation in the study area, first rainfall data of four stations during 1998 to 2011 were collected and co...

Using SWAT and SWAT-CUP for hydrological simulation and uncertainty analysis in arid and semi-arid watersheds (Case study: Zoshk Watershed, Shandiz, Iran)

The aims of this project was to assess the capability of SWAT model and SWAT-CUP software in hydrological simulation and to evaluate the uncertainty of SWAT model in estimating runoff in arid and semi-arid watersheds. Model calibration and uncertainty analysis were performed using the Sequential Uncertainty Fitting (SUFI2) algorithm. In the stage of calibration and validation of water flow, per...

Urban Growth Modeling using Integrated Cellular Automata and Gravitational Search Algorithm (Case Study: Shiraz City, Iran)

Cities are growing and encountering many changes over time due to population growth and migration. Identification and detection of these changes play important roles in urban management and sustainable development. Urban growth models are divided into two main categories: first cellular models which are further divided into experimental, dynamic, and integrated models and second vector models. ...

Evaluating the Performance of Geomod Model, SimWeight and MLP Algorithms in Urban Development Simulation (Case Study: Khorramabad County)

Recently, increasing population rate and urbanization growth, made the significance of land use more to double; So that the plan of land use in the cities has been encountered with vast imposed changes. In order to represent those changes, this study aims to model the land use changes, as an example in Khorramabad city, Lorstan province, Iran. In this regard, the raw Satellite images which capt...
